We seem to be living in a time where one look on social media can have us feeling that we are lacking in some way. Bearing witness to endless highlight reels can result in us experiencing feelings of insignificance because we are not where we want to be, or because we haven’t “made it” according to the worlds standards, or had our “big break” and finally reached that milestone.

Sometimes it doesn’t even take social media for us to find ourselves feeling this way, and instead it’s a result of the lense through which we are perceiving our lives and that of those around us.

So today I simply want to remind you that wherever you are and whatever you do today is significant, and it matters. Even the little things.

Maybe you’re in a job that you don’t necessarily feel called to and long for a more fulfilling role, but each day you continue to serve others and play a small part in allowing society to function. That matters so much.

Maybe you’re struggling with your mental health and although it feels like you’re not doing much, you are in fact making it through each day one at a time. That matters so much.

Maybe you’re single and you don’t have a partner or a family to care for, and though that’s what your heart longs for you’re an amazing friend/sister/daughter and a light in your community. That matters so much.

Maybe you’re a stay at home mum feeling lonely and missing the structure and balance of working life, or with less time to pursue your dreams, but every single day you are keeping little humans alive. That matters so much.

Maybe you’re confused about your direction in life or have become apathetic to life but each day you do what you can with what you have. That matters so much.

Maybe you’re experiencing ill health and currently spend your days doing nothing but resting. That matters so much.

Maybe you’ve intended dive deeper into the bible and your relationship with God, and although you're not spending hours studying the bible each day, you're managing just a few verses a day whilst finding pockets in your day to talk to him. That matters so much.

I could go on with endless examples, but I trust I have made my point.

It may not feel groundbreaking or trailblazing but it matters so much.

Your value and worth does not come from what you do. But whatever you do, it matters. It might not be what you want to do or where you want to stay but whatever you’re doing now, today, it matters.

God sees you, He loves you, and He cares about it.
